MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. More than half of Ukrainians support the idea of negotiating a peace deal and ending fighting, a significant jump from the 36.1% who favored this option in March last year, according to a poll conducted by Socis, a Ukrainian center for social and marketing research.
The survey shows that 56.5% of respondents believe that at this point, negotiating a peace settlement is the best option for the country. A total of 17.2% polled Ukrainians spoke for the suspension of hostilities and temporarily pausing the conflict along the contact line. Another 11% stated that combat actions should be continued "until we return to the 1991 borders," while 7.7% favored fighting until Ukraine got back the territories that were made a part of Russia in referendums in February 2022.
According to the pollster, the number of people supporting a compromise solution increased by 20.4% against March 2025, when the figure stood at 36.1%. The number of those favoring a temporary freeze to fighting along the contact line also increased, as only 8.2% supported this scenario in March 2024.
Conversely, fewer people now favor continuing military actions. In March 2024, 33.5% of polled Ukrainians supported a return to the 1991 country’s borders.
The poll was conducted between March 14 and 23 involving some 2,000 respondents (margin of error - 2.6%).
