Al-Shabab militants attack Somalian president’s motorcade

NAIROBI, March 18. /TASS/. An explosion occurred near the palace of Somalian President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Mogadishu, when his motorcade was leaving the building, with the head of state being unscathed, the Somali Guardian new portal reported.

The news outlet noted that the explosion took place at the El Gaabta junction near the presidential palace and led to several fatalities. Security forces have closed off the site of the incident. Militants from the Al-Shabab group claimed responsibility for the attack.

The president continued his trip to the Middle Shabelle region to meet with the servicemen conducting operations against the al-Shabab militants.
