DUBAI, March 18. /TASS/. Military advisers of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were among the casualties in the US strikes on Monday in the Yemeni province of Hodeidah, Sky News Arabia TV channel reported.
According to the channel's sources, soldiers of the Al-Quds special forces, who allegedly provide military support to the Yemeni Houthis from the Ansar Allah rebel movement, were killed in the attack. Details of the incident and the precise death toll are not mentioned.
Earlier, Al Hadath TV channel reported, citing sources, that dozens of Houthis were killed as a result of US strikes on the Hodeidah province in western Yemen. According to the TV channel, the dead militiamen were in the al-Salif area, which became the main target of the US strikes on Monday evening. According to the Houthi-owned Al Masirah TV channel, the attack on al-Salif destroyed a metallurgical plant. Al Hadath sources said the Houthis used this facility for military purposes.
The Pentagon said that the strikes against targets of the Iranian-backed Ansar Allah movement are distinct from the operations conducted under the previous US administration, as they cover a wider range of targets. According to Lieutenant General Alex Grinkevich, head of the Operational Directorate of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Army, the first wave of strikes aimed at over 30 targets, including Houthi training grounds. The strikes also targeted the leading experts of the Yemeni movement who specialized in the development of drones.
On March 15, the US Army, on the orders of President Donald Trump, launched massive strikes on Yemen controlled by the Ansar Allah movement. According to the Central Command of the US Armed Forces, the operation is aimed at protecting US interests and ensuring freedom of navigation.
