Location of Oreshnik in Belarus was discussed with Putin on Thursday — Lukashenko

The Belarusian president emphasized that, with the adoption of the military doctrine and security concept of the Union State, the agreement on security guarantees between Russia and Belarus has achieved an unprecedented level of strategic partnership

MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. The placement of Oreshnik missiles in Belarus was discussed during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko told Russia’s Federation Council (upper house of parliament).

"Yesterday, we addressed this issue. Putin told me, 'Now we need to decide where we will station them.' I replied, 'Well, that's easier. We will certainly station them, provided we have the equipment to station,'" he said.

Lukashenko emphasized that, with the adoption of the military doctrine and security concept of the Union State, the agreement on security guarantees between Russia and Belarus has achieved an unprecedented level of strategic partnership and military coordination.

Following the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on December 6, 2024, Moscow and Minsk approved a common security concept and signed an interstate treaty on security guarantees within the framework of the Union State. After the meeting, Lukashenko stated that he had asked Putin to deploy Russian medium-range ballistic missiles, the Oreshnik, in Belarus. In response, the Russian president indicated that the Oreshnik system could be deployed in Belarus in the second half of 2025.
