Trump, Zelensky instruct aides to finalize minerals deal — top US diplomat

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the US and Ukraine had been consulting on the deal through the two countries' finance departments

WASHINGTON, March 12. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky have instructed their aides to finalize all work related to the signing of an agreement on the US development of Ukraine's mineral resources, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters.

According to him, Trump and Zelensky "will instruct the appropriate members of our governments to bring to finality the signature of the deal." "That was communicated today, and that's going to happen," Rubio added. He stated that the US and Ukraine had been consulting on the deal through the two countries' finance departments.

"That was not the subject of our talks today," the top US diplomat said after the meeting in Jeddah. "We were here in pursuit of peace. That doesn't mean the minerals deal is not very important. It most certainly is," Rubio added.
