Lvov region hired lobbyist in US autonomously from Kiev - document

This is the first case in 33 years when an individual Ukrainian region officially ordered lobbying services in the US

MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. The authorities of the Lvov region have agreed with the Washington lobbying firm Color Nine Group to represent their interests in the US, a TASS correspondent reported.

This is the first case in 33 years when an individual Ukrainian region officially ordered lobbying services in the US and tried to establish ties with US officials independently of Kiev. The last similar contract was an agreement with the Republic of Crimea, dated in the US Department of Justice database in 1992.

A notice of the contract of the Lvov authorities from January 2025 is on fara.gov - the US Department of Justice portal dedicated to foreign agents and external lobbying. Maksim Kozitsky, who has headed the Lvov region since 2020 (the regional government is now called the regional military administration), appears in the documents as the customer's representative.

The documents note that the contractor company will represent the Lvov region free of charge.

In total, there are 179 Ukrainian customers ever registered in the lobbyist database on fara.gov. At the same time, until now, primarily commercial and public organizations, large entrepreneurs, parties, politicians, Kiev government agencies, and the country’s government have registered as customers of lobbyist services from Ukraine.
