NEW YORK, March 10. /TASS/. It is evident to the US administration that it will be extremely hard for Ukraine to return to its 2014 borders, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters during his visit to Saudi Arabia.
"I think both sides need to come to an understanding that there’s no military solution to this situation," The New York Times quoted Rubio as saying. "Obviously it’ll be very difficult for Ukraine in any reasonable time period to sort of force the Russians back all the way to where they were in 2014."
The US-Ukrainian negotiations in Saudi Arabia are expected to take place on March 11. The US side will be represented by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, national security adviser Mike Waltz, and special envoy for the Middle East Steven Witkoff. The Ukrainian delegation will be led by Zelensky’s chief of staff Andrey Yermak, Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
Special envoy Witkoff told the Fox News Television a few hours earlier that the United States expects the upcoming March 11 meeting in Saudi Arabia to lead to significant progress in the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, the prospects of Washington resuming the provision of intelligence to Kiev will be one of the topics of discussion in Jeddah. At the same time, Witkoff admitted that the United States has not suspended the transfer of intelligence information to Kiev, which, according to Washington, is necessary for Ukrainian defense. US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the United States had almost resumed providing Ukraine with intelligence.
