Rubio calls on Ukraine to be ready to make ‘difficult’ concessions to get US aid back

Rubio said the White House first needs to understand what concessions Kiev will be willing to make before restarting military aid

WASHINGTON, March 10. /TASS/. Ukraine should be ready to make difficult concessions if it wants the US to resume military aid, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the top US diplomat spoke with reporters aboard his plane as he was heading to Saudi Arabia, which is expected to host US-Ukraine talks on March 11.

Rubio said the White House first needs to understand what concessions Kiev will be willing to make before restarting military aid, according to the report. According to Rubio, Ukraine must be "prepared to do difficult things, like the Russians will."

The US will be represented at the talks by Rubio, national security adviser Mike Waltz and the special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff. The Ukrainian delegation will be led by Zelensky’s chief of staff Andrey Yermak, Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

Witkoff told Fox News that the US expects the meeting to lead to significant progress in the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. According to the envoy, the prospects of resuming intelligence sharing with Kiev will be one of the topics of discussion. Witkoff said the US did not suspend sharing the intelligence that Ukraine needs to defend itself. US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the US "just about" resumed sharing intelligence with Kiev.
