WASHINGTON, March 4. /TASS/. The United States will introduce tariffs on supplies of agriculture products to the country starting April 2, US President Donald Trump has said.
"To the great farmers of the United States: get ready to start making a lot of agricultural product to be sold inside of the United States. Tariffs will go on external product on April 2," he wrote on his Truth Social page.
On February 1, Trump signed a decree raising tariffs on goods from Canada, China, and Mexico. Tariffs in the amount of 10% on Chinese imports came into force on February 4, while tariffs on Canadian and Mexican products were held off for 30 days due to negotiations with those countries’ authorities. Later the US president said that another package of tariffs on China would take effect on March 4, with the rate also standing at 10%.
On February 10, Trump also gave instructions to impose tariffs on all imports of steel and aluminum to the country in the amount of 25%.
