MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. Prime Minister of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing arrived in Russia on an official visit on Monday, a TASS correspondent reported.
His plane landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo-2 airport at around 4:00 p.m. Moscow time (1:00 p.m. GMT).
Upon arrival, the head of the government of Myanmar was greeted by a delegation of Russian officials, led by Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov. Diplomats of the Embassy of Myanmar in Moscow, as well as Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov, were also present during the welcome ceremony.
On March 4, Min Aung Hlaing is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Kremlin press service announced in the run-up to the visit that the parties would discuss prospects for further development of mutually beneficial Russian-Myanmar cooperation, as well as topical international issues. Following the talks, it is planned to adopt a joint statement and sign a number of intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents.
The latest in-person meeting between the leaders of Russia and Myanmar took place during the 2022 Eastern Economic Forum in Russia’s Far Eastern city of Vladivostok.
