CAIRO, February 13. /TASS/. Hamas is not looking to undermine the Gaza ceasefire, the Palestinian radical movement quoted its spokesman, Abdel Latif al-Qanua, as saying on its Telegram channel.
"We are not interested in disrupting the ceasefire agreement and we are committed to ensuring that it is implemented and that Israel adheres to all of its provisions," the Hamas spokesman said. According to him, mediators are currently working to make sure that "Israel implements the humanitarian protocol of the deal" and that the exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners resumes on Saturday.
A Hamas delegation is currently in Cairo, trying "to overcome the hurdles being created by Israel toward implementing the agreement," al-Qanua confirmed.
On February 10, Abu Ubaida, a representative of the military wing of Hamas, announced a delay in the release of the next group of hostages set to come home on February 15. The movement believes that Israel violated the terms of the deal when it "delayed the return of displaced persons from the south of the enclave to the north, opened fire on Gazans and was unable to ensure the delivery of all types of humanitarian aid in the required volumes."
On Tuesday, the Prime Minister of the Jewish state, Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to resume intense fighting in Gaza if Hamas did not release the Israeli hostages by noon on February 15.
