WASHINGTON, February 3. /TASS/. The head office of the United States Agency for International Development will be closed on February 3, and most of its staff will work remotely, according to a letter sent to USAID employees, just as Elon Musk said the agency is going to be shut down.
According to the letter, which was posted to X by Washington Post reporter John Hudson, only employees with essential on-site and building maintenance functions will be allowed to work at the head office, if asked by senior leadership.
Fox News reported earlier that signs were removed from USAID headquarters, and Musk’s team took over the computer systems. More than 50 senior USAID staff members were placed on administrative leave and banned from communicating with anyone outside the agency without approval. Musk said the agency will be dismantled beyond repair.
