Hamas accuses Israel of stalling current round of Gaza talks

The movement emphasized that the "new conditions" put forward by the Israeli authorities concern the issues of "the withdrawal of troops from Gaza, the cessation of hostilities there"

CAIRO, December 25. /TASS/. The Palestinian Hamas movement believes that Israel is stalling the talks on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip now taking place in Doha, the group said.

"The ceasefire talks mediated by Egypt and Qatar are taking place in Doha, and Hamas has taken them with all seriousness, showing the necessary flexibility. However, Israel has come up with new conditions and demands that are blocking the achievement of the agreement in its current form," the statement posted on the movement’s Telegram channel said.

Hamas emphasized that the "new conditions" put forward by the Israeli authorities concern the issues of "the withdrawal of troops from Gaza, the cessation of hostilities there, the release of [Israeli] hostages, as well as the return of the forcibly displaced persons to their homes." The movement did not provide further details.
