CAIRO, December 19. /TASS/. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged the Islamic world to take the lead in isolating Israel internationally over its aggressive actions in the region, speaking at the D-8 summit in Cairo.
"I believe we must take a stronger stance against Israel's illegal actions that threaten the stability of Syria and our entire region. As Islamic countries, we must lead the efforts to take action against Israel. First and foremost, it is crucial to impose an arms embargo on Israel and halt trade with it," Erdogan said.
The Turkish president recalled Ankara's initiative at the UN to impose an arms embargo on Israel, which received support from 52 countries and two international organizations.
