Turkish president calls for more diplomatic pressure on Israel to resolve Gaza situation

"The two-state solution is crucial for regional peace and calm," Recep Tayyip Erdogan said

ISTANBUL, November 13. /TASS/. The global community needs to exert more pressure on Israel, backing it into a "corner," thus expediting the resolution of the Gaza crisis, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

"We are working with Arab and Turkic countries to make it clear that we are one voice, one heart," he noted. "We call for specific steps. For instance, a legal battle is underway at the International Court of Justice (a lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel - TASS) and it’s important to support it. Another concrete step is to ensure the recognition of the State of Palestine. The two-state solution is crucial for regional peace and calm. Trade restrictions and an embargo on Israel are another form of resistance. In order to increase diplomatic pressure, it’s important to make active diplomatic efforts that will back Israel into a corner on multiple fronts," Erdogan told his reporter pool upon returning from the Azerbaijani capital of Baku, where he took part in the COP29 United Nations climate conference.

"We, all of humanity, are facing a big test, and the only way to pass it is to come together as a human race. Otherwise, history will judge both those who are on Israel’s side and those who keep silent," the Turkish president added.
