TEL AVIV, March 26. /TASS/. Israel is set to continue the military operation in the Gaza Strip after the Palestinian radical movement Hamas’s move to reject a compromise at negotiations in Qatar, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said in a statement.
"Israel will not cave to Hamas’s delusional demands," the statement reads.
On Monday, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution put forward by ten non-permanent members of the body, which contains a demand for an immediate ceasefire in the Palestinian enclave in observance of Ramadan.
Negotiations involving Israel and Hamas with mediation from Egypt and Qatar resumed in Doha on March 18. Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Madjed al Ansari has reported cautious optimism for a potential release of hostages in the Gaza Strip among the negotiators, even though no breakthrough was made in the negotiations.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Ynet media outlet reported that David Barnea, director of the Israeli intelligence service, or the Mossad, had recalled the Israeli delegates from Doha after the talks had stalled.
