US Abrams tanks, Bradley APCs unloaded in Greece — report

The website underscores the great importance of the port of Alexandroupolis for the US and NATO

ATHENS, March 18. /TASS/. US-made Abrams tanks and Bradley armored combat vehicles were delivered to the port of Alexandroupolis in the northeastern part of Greece, the gnomionline.gr website reports.

According to the website, a large shipment of military vehicles was unloaded from the Leroy A. Mendonica ship as part of US efforts to increase NATO’s potential in Europe. The vehicles are intended for the 3rd Armored Brigade of NATO’s 4th Infantry Division. The ship delivered M1A1 Abrams tanks, M2 Bradley armored vehicles and JLTV light support vehicles.

The website underscores the great importance of the port of Alexandroupolis for the US and NATO. According to the report, over 3,000 weapons and heavy vehicles have already been unloaded in this haven and subsequently transported to Eastern Europe in circumvention of the Dardanelles Strait either by means of automobile or railway transport.

The delivery and deployment of new combat vehicles is closely coordinated with European partners and allies for "protection against threats to the region’s common security," the website says. The deployment of combat-ready and reliable US forces is proof of its firm commitment to NATO and Europe, the article says.
