BERLIN, February 21. /TASS/. The conflict in Ukraine has already cost Germany more than 200 billion euros, President of the German Institute for Economic Research Marcel Fratzscher said.
"First of all, the high energy costs [due to the Ukrainian crisis] have led to a decline in Germany’s economic growth by 2.5 percentage points, or 100 billion euros in 2022, and the same amount from 2023 until now," he said in an interview with the Rheinische Post newspaper.
The expert also pointed out that these were only "direct financial costs." Other costs will be due to "the escalation of geopolitical and geo-economic conflicts." According to Fratzscher, this will hit export-oriented companies particularly hard.
