Lavrov's visit to Skopje not sign of West changing attitude toward Russia — French MFA

"I do not think that Minister Lavrov's presence allows us to conclude that Russia is escaping isolation," Spokeswoman Anne-Claire Legendre added

PARIS, November 29. /TASS/. The presence of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the OSCE foreign ministers' council meeting in Skopje does not indicate that the West's attitude towards Moscow has changed, French Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Anne-Claire Legendre said.

"Russia is still a member of the OSCE and other organizations," Legendre said when asked whether Lavrov's presence at the Skopje meeting meant the West was abandoning its attempts to isolate Moscow. "I do not think that Minister Lavrov's presence allows us to conclude that Russia is escaping isolation," she said.

Legendre insisted that a significant part of the OSCE members condemn Russia's actions in Ukraine.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova alleged that many countries had submitted requests for bilateral meetings with Lavrov on the sidelines of the Macedonian ministerial meeting.
