The television channel released a video showing smoke and damage next to the checkpoint area.

ABC News reported citing the Niagara Falls mayor’s office that the incident involved a vehicle. It is specified that the explosion was in the US section of the bridge. Law enforcement officers have arrived at the scene.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has been briefed on the incident.

"We are closely monitoring the situation. State agencies are on the site and ready to assist," she wrote on her X page (formerly known as Twitter).
