Kazakhstan, Russia should pool efforts in ensuring food security — Tokayev

Earlier, the Kazakh president said that both countries are among the biggest producers of agriculture products and among top global grain exporters

ASTANA, November 9. /TASS/. It is important for Kazakhstan and Russia to pool efforts on ensuring food security amid global challenges, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

"Amid unprecedented global challenges it is important for our countries to pool efforts on ensuring food security as never before," he said at a plenary session of the 19th Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum.

Earlier, the president said that Russia and Kazakhstan are among the biggest producers of agriculture products and among top global grain exporters.

Moreover, the two countries should not compete on the Eurasian Economic Union’s (EAEU) market of fertilizers, Tokayev noted, adding that they should pool efforts in searching for ways to increase access to fertilizers for both countries’ farmers and enter foreign markets.
