Nord Stream blasts a desperate maneuver that smacks of Anglo-Saxon geopolitics — expert

It is noted that Washington began to view with concern the convergence between Germany and Russia in the 2000s on issues pertaining to energy, the "high point of which was the construction of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines"

RIO DE JANEIRO, March 31. /TASS/. The blowing-up of the Nord Stream gas pipelines had all the characteristics of a terrorist act and was a desperate measure that epitomized the old school spirit of British geopolitical maneuvers, Valdir Bezerra, an expert with the GEBRICS research group at Brazil’s University of Sao Paulo, told TASS on Friday.

"The explosion should be analyzed in accordance with one of the most important tenets of 20th century geopolitics, which was first formulated by British scholar Halford Mackinder. More than a century ago, he advised the British government to block by any and all means the formation of an alliance between Germany and Russia, since the latter would facilitate the dominance of the Eurasian landmass, as a land-based continental power, over the sea power of Great Britain. The United States then inherited this fundamental foreign policy goal of the British government," the expert said.

Washington began to view with concern the convergence between Germany and Russia in the 2000s on issues pertaining to energy, the "high point of which was the construction of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines," Bezerra noted.

"Therefore, the terrorist demolition of this gas pipeline with the backing of the US government is a desperate move, targeted precisely at breaking the link between Russia and Germany once and for all, in accordance with the centuries-old commandment of British geopolitics. The fact that the Germans had virtually nothing to say concerning the event speaks volumes about the level of their dependence on the United States," he noted.

This is exactly why Western countries, led by the US, have avoided an international investigation into the incident, Bezerra noted.
