Neither side likely to achieve their goals in Ukraine — US Joint Chiefs of Staff head

Mark Milley added that he didn’t think it was likely that Ukraine would force out all Russian troops this year

WASHINGTON, March 21. /TASS/. Neither Ukraine, nor Russia will be able to make progress toward their political goals in the conflict, and such parity may exist for some time, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley said in an episode of the Eurasia Group Foundation’s podcast published by Politico on Monday

"You've got a state of nature where neither side, probably, can achieve their political objectives through military means, and that state of nature will exist for some period of time," he said.

Milley added that he didn’t think it was likely that Ukraine would force out all Russian troops this year. Meanwhile, Russia "will not be able to achieve their political objectives" in Ukraine, either, he added.
