BEIJING, March 1. /TASS/. The new status of relations between China and Belarus should be filled with new content, Chinese President Xi Jinping said during talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Beijing on Wednesday.

"The new status of our bilateral relations should be filled with new content. We have a good opportunity today to develop a plan for the entire range of our bilateral relations and adopt a joint statement," the Chinese president said, the BelTA news agency reported.

He said that China is committed to strengthening political mutual trust with Belarus in the context of instability and turbulence of the international situation.

"In the context of instability and turbulence of the international situation, China is strongly committed to continuing joint efforts with Belarus to strengthen political mutual trust and practical cooperation in the interests of dynamic, healthy and sustainable development of bilateral relations," Xi Jinping said.

He stated that he and Lukashenko are united in seeking to develop Chinese-Belarusian relations.

"We have been friends for several years. We have a strong unbreakable friendship," the Chinese leader said.

He recollected their previous meeting that took place in Samarkand in September.

"We had a very wonderful conversation, during which we announced the transition of Chinese-Belarusian relations to the level of an all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership, which served as a powerful impetus for full-scale cooperation between the two countries," Xi Jinping said.

Lukashenko is now in China on a state visit from February 28 to March 2.
