Expanding ties with China priority for Belarus, Lukashenko says

Alexander Lukashenko also said he could see no obstacles to deepening bilateral interaction

BEIJING, March 1. /TASS/. Belarus views expanding ties with China as a priority of its foreign policy, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting with Li Zhanshu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China.

"Expanding ties with China has been a foreign policy priority for us. Thanks to joint efforts, the notion of ‘a comprehensive strategic partnership’ has acquired a special meaning in relations between Belarus and China," the BelTA news agency quoted Lukashenko as saying.

According to the Belarusian leader, "today, Moscow and Beijing continue to foster a constructive political dialogue, successfully develop economic cooperation and expand regional ties."

Lukashenko also said he could see no obstacles to deepening bilateral interaction, given the agreements reached earlier on its "all-weather" nature. "We are ready to keep making the necessary efforts for a fruitful development of our partnership," the Belarusian leader assured.
