Deputy head of Ukrainian presidential office may lead military intelligence — lawmaker

There are several candidates to be the head of the Central Intelligence Directorate, Alexey Goncharenko said

KIEV, February 6. /TASS/. Deputy head of the Ukrainian president’s office Roman Mashovets may lead Ukraine’s military intelligence, replacing Kirill Budanov who is being appointed as the country’s new defense minister, Ukrainian lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko said on Sunday.

"There are several candidates to be the head of the Central Intelligence Directorate, the main one at this moment being deputy head of the presidential office Roman Mashovets," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

As David Arakhamia, leader of the Servant of the People pro-presidential faction, said on Sunday, Alexey Reznikov was vacating the office of Ukraine’s defense minister to be succeeded by military intelligence chief Kirill Budanov. Rumors about Reznikov’s possible resignation surfaced amid the scandal around the Defense Ministry which followed the publication of a journalist’s investigation of food procurements to the army at inflated prices.
