BRUSSELS, January 19. /TASS/. Belgium will ship 3,000 tons of salt to Ukraine for de-icing of roads as humanitarian aid, the Belgian Foreign Ministry announced Thursday.
"Considering the difficult winter conditions, Belgium will ship humanitarian aid to Ukraine, comprised of 3,000 tons of salt for road maintenance," the Foreign Ministry said. The total cost of this batch will stand at about 600,000 euro.
The Foreign Ministry noted that the salt will be delivered by land in 110-115 trucks. The European Commission will assist in the transportation.
According to the Belgian Foreign Ministry, Ukraine has been experiencing serious salt shortage since early January.
