Ukraine counts on receiving German tanks soon — deputy premier

As Bloomberg reported earlier, the German government is expected to make a decision on sending the Leopard tanks to Ukraine

GENEVA, January 18. /TASS/. The Ukrainian authorities hope that the German government will make a decision to send its tanks to Ukraine soon, Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Trade said.

"I hope that they will make the right decision, and provide us with tanks. We hope that they will follow your [UK] example," she told Sky News on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

She expressed hope that other states will "provide us with heavy weapons - tanks, everything that we need to obtain the victory during this year."

As Bloomberg reported earlier, the German government is expected to make a decision on sending the Leopard tanks to Ukraine. According to the news agency, it is likely that this move will be approved. On January 11, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that Warsaw decided to provide a company of Leopard tanks to Ukraine. German cabinet spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said at a briefing that Berlin has not yet received any specific requests on re-exporting the tanks. Such deliveries cannot be made without Germany’s permission because it produces these tanks.
