Croatian president opposes training Ukrainian servicemen in his country

Zoran Milanovic said he thought the mission to train Ukrainian servicemen in several EU countries could entail serious implications

BELGRADE, October 18. /TASS/. Croatian President Zoran Milanovic on Tuesday said he opposes training Ukrainian servicemen in his country.

"I don’t support this idea because I don’t support Croatia getting involved in this war more than it should," he told reporters. "As the commander-in-chief, I don’t approve this."

Milanovic said he thought the mission to train Ukrainian servicemen in several EU countries could entail serious implications.

"I don't like this. This brings war to Croatia," the president said.

He said "political poseurs and people of low morality profit" from the Ukrainian conflict.

Training mission

Agence France-Presse reported earlier that the ambassadors of the EU countries agreed to start a training mission for Ukrainian servicemen in several EU countries. According to diplomats, this decision was made by the EU ambassadors in Brussels and is set to be approved at a meeting of foreign ministers in Luxembourg on October 17. It’s assumed that the mission will initially train about 15,000 Ukrainian servicemen.
