Malta, Mozambique, Switzerland, Ecuador, Japan elected to UNSC as non-permanent members

In addition to the permanent members, the UN Security Council for 2022-2023 includes Albania, Brazil, Gabon, Ghana and the United Arab Emirates

UNITED NATIONS, June 9. /TASS/. The UN General Assembly on Thursday elected five non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for 2023-2024, according to a TASS reporter attending the vote.

The new non-permanent members are Malta, Mozambique, Switzerland, Ecuador and Japan. They are replacing India, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico and Norway whose membership expires on December 31, 2022.

In addition to the permanent members - Russia, UK, China, the US and France - the UN Security Council for 2022-2023 includes Albania, Brazil, Gabon, Ghana and the United Arab Emirates.
