WANGELS /Germany/, May 14. /TASS/. The situation in Ukraine is fraught with a global hunger crisis, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock told a press conference on Saturday following a three-day meeting of G7 foreign ministers in the Wangels municipality in the north of Germany.

"Due to Russia’s actions supplies are halted, prices are rising - not only in our countries, but across the world," she said, adding that the situation is fraught with a severe hunger crisis.

Russia "has decided to move the war in Ukraine to other states in the form of a ‘grain war’," Germany’s top diplomat added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier western sanctions against Moscow hurt the economies of those countries that introduce them, and provoke a global crisis, adding that "the continued sanctions frenzy" will inevitably lead to the most complex consequences for the European Union, for its citizens, as well as for the poorest countries that have already encountered the risks of hunger.
