CHISINAU, April 29. /TASS/. Moldovan Defense Minister Anatoly Nosatiy said that the republic's armed forces were ready to defend the country.
"The Moldovan army has always been and continues to be ready to carry out its main task of defending the country. We, as the military and officials of the military state structures, are doing everything possible to protect the territorial integrity and security," the Moldovan newspaper NewsMaker quoted the minister as saying on Friday. At the same time, he noted that he does not have enough information about the terrorist attacks that took place this week in Transnistria, including drone flights from Ukraine over the arsenal near the village of Colbasna, which is guarded by the Russian military mission stationed in the unrecognized republic.
"There is a lot of information, most of it is manipulation meant to mislead and intimidate. I would like to point out that everything has happened on territory that we, the government structures, do not control," he explained.
This week, several terror attacks were committed in Transnistria. Leader of the unrecognized Transnistria Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky said that they were organized in Ukraine. The authorities declared the highest level of terror threat and bolstered security measures.
Earlier, Ukrainian administration advisor Alexey Arestovich claimed that the Ukrainian Army may seize Transnistria, should Chisinau make such a request. Moldavian President Maia Sandu said in response that Moldova has always been in favor of a peaceful solution of the conflict and do not change this position. She stressed that Moldovan authorities will obstruct actions that provoke danger from the people.
