MOSCOW, April 26. /TASS/. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un stated during Monday’s military parade dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Korean People's Army that Pyongyang would continue to expand and develop its nuclear arsenal, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported on Tuesday, citing North Korea’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
"We will continue to take measures to further strengthen and develop our country’s nuclear forces at the maximum and fastest rate," the agency quoted Kim Jong-un as saying. "The republic’s nuclear forces should be thoroughly prepared to be able to activate their unique deterrence potential at any moment," the North Korean leader stressed. "If any state moves to infringe upon our country’s fundamental interests, our nuclear forces will have no other option but to give an unexpected response," he emphasized.
Yonhap reported earlier that a military parade dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Korean People's Army had taken place in the North Korean capital of Pyongyang. The event involved thousands of military servicemen and civilians. The South Korean news agency pointed out that it had been the first military parade devoted to an anniversary of the Korean People’s Army held under Kim Jong-un.
