Macron says he is doing everything to end conflict in Ukraine and restore peace

What is happening in Ukraine is unacceptable, the French President noted

PARIS, April 13. /TASS/. French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday that he is making every effort to end hostilities in Ukraine and restore peace in the region. At the same time, he disagreed with the words of US President Joe Biden, who claimed that what is happening in Ukraine seems to him to be "genocide."

"You have to be very careful with terms today, because we are talking about brotherly peoples (Russian and Ukrainian - TASS)," Macron said on Wednesday on the France 2 TV channel, answering the host’s questions. "I want to keep trying to stop this conflict and restore peace. I don't think the linguistic escalation serves that purpose," the French leader noted in reference to the American president's remarks. On Tuesday, Biden told reporters that the events in Ukraine seemed to him to be "genocide".

At the same time, Macron noted that "all evidence of war crimes must be fairly investigated." "What is happening in Ukraine is unacceptable," the French president, who is now running for a second term, said. He stressed that he "nowadays continues to devote a lot of time to the Ukrainian settlement."

Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24 launched a special military operation in Ukraine following a request for assistance from the leaders of the Donbass republics. After that, the US, EU, and UK, as well as several other states, announced that they were imposing sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities.
