US practice to impose sanctions has spread like a bacillus over EU — Kremlin

Regardless of all the restrictions Russia will continue working on its projects hoping that politicians, who are aware of the need to develop relations with Moscow, will appear in Europe in the future, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out

MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the US practice to impose sanctions has spread like a bacillus over the EU. But he added that the restrictions will not make Russian politicians change the country’s position.

"In general, the Unites States is the main apologist for sanctions. They are big fans of sanctions there. Naturally, their adherence to this practice has now spread to Europe like a bacillus," Peskov said.

"They believe that by imposing sanctions they can force us to change our position. Obviously, this is out of the question. None of us will consistently change our position," Peskov said.

The Kremlin spokesman added that if this is the way the collective West wants to punish Russia, "we can't do anything about it." "Punish! We have no assets in the West, no accounts in the West. Punish! It's okay," he said.

The Kremlin official assured that regardless of all the sanctions Russia will continue working on its projects hoping that politicians who are aware of the need to develop relations with Moscow, will appear in Europe in the future.

"Of course, we will continue to work anyway. After all, over time leaders with a broad vision will appear in the EU, those who are aware of the need to develop relations with our country. We will also work for this perspective," Peskov concluded.
