First batch of Sputnik V vaccine to arrive to Mexico on February 22

The Russian vaccine will be used to inoculate elderly people in the country’s capital

MEXICO, February 20. /TASS/. Mexico will get the first batch of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine against the novel coronavirus late on February 22 (local time), Deputy Health Minister Hugo Lopez-Gatell told reporters.

"The vaccine will be delivered on Monday, February 22, at 23:00 [local time, 08:00 on Tuesday Moscow time]," he said, adding that the delivery will be performed by a DHL plane.

According to the deputy minister, the Russian vaccine will be used to inoculate elderly people in the country’s capital.

The Health Ministry of Mexico said it had registered about 2.22 million coronavirus cases in the country since late February 2020, 178,965 of them fatal. A total of 1.58 million of them patients have already recovered. The case count has been on steady decline in the past few weeks.
