Sri Lanka’s police detain seven suspects in series of deadly blasts

Media reports said radical Islamists could have been behind the deadly blasts

NEW DELHI, April 21. /TASS/. Sri Lanka’s authorities have detained seven suspects in Sunday’s terrorist attacks, which claimed the lives of at least 190 people, a local news portal Newsfirst reported.

Earlier, police in Colombo confirmed that one of the blasts had been carried out by a suicide bomber, AFP reported. Media reports said radical Islamists could have been behind the deadly blasts.

A series of eight explosions in the island country during Easter celebrations on Sunday targeted churches, hotels and also an area close to the capital’s zoo and near Dematagoda, Colombo’s suburb. No extremist group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
