Manchester United FC says unaware of Russian forward Kokorin’s talks with titled UK club

MOSCOW, August 20. /TASS/. Manchester United football club neither confirmed nor rejected earlier media reports concerning alleged transfer of Russia’s forward Alexander Kokorin to the titled England’s club.

"As you can imagine, there is a vast amount of speculation about players joining Manchester United - each transfer window we are linked with hundreds of players," Philip Townsend, the club’s director of communications, told TASS on Thursday.

Kokorin’s agent Christophe Yutto told TASS on Wednesday that the 24-year-old Russian striker from Dinamo Moscow FC, was in talks with England’s Manchester United and Tottenham and was likely to leave his club by August 31.

Dinamo Moscow FC earlier posted a statement on its official website saying the club was not holding negotiations with other parties on Kokorin’s transfer.

"As a matter of policy, we do not comment on such rumors - we only speak when there is some hard news to give - in other words when a deal is completed," Townsend added commenting on Kokorin’s possible transfer to the club in England.

Kokorin, who also plays for the national team, began his professional career with Lokomotiv Moscow FC in 2002 and six years later he signed up with Dinamo Moscow FC, where he played a total of 165 matches scoring 38 goals.

Playing for the Russian national team, he hit the pitch in an overall of 32 games scoring eight goals for Russia.
