Record ceremony for Russia's 8-0 win over Cuba pushed to next week

According to the the Russian Book of Records, the ceremony will be held on the sidelines of another friendly match, against Paraguay

MOSCOW, March 19. /TASS/. Russia will postpone recognizing its recent friendly match against Cuba in the Russian Book of Records until next week.

The ceremony, originally set for March 21, will be held next Monday, the organizers said.

"Presenting a [Russian Book of Records] certificate for the friendly match between the Russian and Cuban football teams has been postponed until March 25. The ceremony will be held on the sidelines of another friendly game, against Paraguay," the Russian Book of Records said.

On November 20, the Russian national football squad played a home friendly against Cuba in the city of Volgograd, annihilating their guests 8-0. The Russian national team set a new record for the number of different players to score in one match.

The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced in February 2022 that the Russian national team and all professional clubs representing the country were barred from taking part in FIFA-sanctioned events and UEFA tournaments over the situation in Ukraine.

On Thursday, Russia and Serbia will play their International Friendly, and on March 25, Russia will host Paraguay in Moscow .
