Russia's Khachanov advances to ATP final after beating Sebastian Korda

Karen Khachanov, 27, is 15th in the ATP rankings and has won four tournaments on the ATP tour

MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/. Russian Karen Khachanov has defeated American Sebastian Korda in the semifinals of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournament in Zhuhai, China.

The meeting ended 7-5, 6-4 in favor of Khachanov, who was the tournament's number one seed. Korda was seeded fourth. Khachanov will play against the winner of the match between Russia's Aslan Karatsev and Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka in the final.

Khachanov, 27, is 15th in the ATP rankings and has won four tournaments on the ATP tour.

Korda, 23, is 33rd in the world rankings. He has one ATP title to his name.

The tournament in Zhuhai is being played on hard courts as part of the ATP 250. Total prize money for the competition is more than $981,000. The tournament was held for the first time in 2019, when it was won by Australian Alex de Minaur. In the following years, the competition did not take place due to the coronavirus pandemic.
