TASS, June 15. Alexey Berezutsky has stepped down as head coach of Moscow’s CSKA football club one year after his appointment, the CSKA's press service announced on Wednesday.
His assistants Vasily Berezutsky and Grigory Babayan left the coaching staff along with him.
Alexey Berezutsky, 39, was promoted to CSKA head coach in the summer of 2021. Under his guidance, the team reached the quarterfinals of the Betcity Russian Cup, where it lost to the future winner of the tournament, Moscow’s Spartak (0:1). Last season CSKA ranked fifth in the Tinkoff Russian Premier League, having received 50 points in 30 games.
As a footballer, Alexey Berezutsky played for CSKA from 2001 to 2018 and took part in 502 games for the club, in which he scored 11 goals and gave ten assists. With CSKA, he became a six-time champion of Russia, a seven-time winner of the Cup of Russia and a six-time winner of the Super Cup of Russia. Also, Berezutsky won the UEFA Cup in 2005 with the CSKA team.
