MOSCOW, March 25. /TASS/. Umar Kremlev, the secretary general of the Russian Boxing Federation (RBF), told TASS on Monday it was possible that he would run for the post of the president of the International Boxing Association (AIBA).
"I have thought about it," Kremlev said. "I think it is possible that my candidacy will be submitted for the election."
The press service of AIBA reported last Friday that Uzbekistan’s Gafur Rakhimov had announced his resignation as the head of the International Boxing Association (AIBA).
According to earlier media reports, African Boxing Confederation (AFBC) head Mohamed Moustahsane had been appointed the acting president of AIBA.
"Moustahsane has still to submit his candidacy and the Executive Committee will have to make its decision within five days," Kremlev said. "The election of the new president of the organization must be held within nine months.".
