ST. PETERSBURG, May 20. /TASS/. The case materials for the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall have grown to 500 volumes, and will soon be handed over to prosecutors, Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of Russia’s Investigative Committee said.
"The criminal case has 500 volumes. A lot of investigative work has been done. 300 inspections and 2,500 forensic examinations were conducted. And the case will soon be forwarded to the court," he said at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
He said that the Investigative Committee, the Interior Ministry and the FSB acted competently and quickly in responding to the attack. The four Tajik citizens who perpetrated the terrorist attack were detained shortly after the crime. Bastrykin said that in total, 19 people were arrested in connection with the heinous attack.
On the evening of March 22, 2024, four terrorists armed with automatic weapons broke into the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region. They killed 145 people, including six children, and injured more than 500 individuals.
According to the Investigative Committee, the intelligence services of an unfriendly state plotted and organized this terrorist attack in order to destabilize Russia.
According to FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov, Ukraine’s military intelligence was directly involved in the terrorist attack, while the Western-supported Islamic State - Khorasan Province terrorist organization banned in Russia, recruited the assailants.
