Hotline helps Sanya tourists solve problems during May holidays

Tourists can also protect their rights through the "CarefreeSanya" platform

HAIKOU, China, May 5. /TASS/. The resort city of Sanya in the southern Chinese province of Hainan continues to optimize its tourist services. During the May holidays, a hotline designed to help tourists solve their problems while vacationing proved effective, Sanya Daily reported.

The staff of the Sanya 12345 hotline worked closely with various relevant agencies to solve tourists' problems over the May holidays (May 1-5), which significantly improved the quality of tourist services, the publication stated.

The newspaper gave several examples of how the platform helped visitors to the city solve problems related to hotel accommodation. One was a case of a woman named Yu, who intended to check into a hotel in Haitang Bay on May 1, but due to a change of plans, she asked to cancel her reservation. Faced with excuses from the hotel and online platforms, she called the 12345 hotline for help. The Haitang District Tourism and Culture Bureau was able to cancel the reservation and refund the money in about an hour, the report stated. According to the newspaper, there have been a number of similar cases.

In recent years, Sanya has greatly improved its quality service standards in many tourism-related industries. These include catering, wedding photography, yachting, surfing, diving and more. At the same time, joint inspections and special campaigns organized by various departments to regulate and streamline the tourism market continue.

Tourists can also protect their rights through the Carefree Sanya platform. It allows them to provide evidence to receive compensation, and the response time to requests does not exceed three minutes, according to the newspaper. Preliminary compensation, if justified, can be paid within 30 minutes.

According to a representative of the Sanya Tourism and Culture Administration, 2025 has been declared the year of improving the quality of tourism services. Fifty-six tourism-related agencies and 120,000 tourism enterprises have been invited to participate in the project. According to the administration, improving tourism services is one of the top priorities of the city government.
