MOSCOW, March 12. /TASS/. Over 1,000 foreign nationals were sent back from Russia in 2024 or transferred to their home countries to continue serving their sentences, said Arkady Gostev, director of the Federal Penitentiary Service.
"As many as 877 suspects and defendants were extradited to other countries, and 224 convicts were transferred to their home countries to continue serving their sentences," he specified at the agency’s expanded board meeting summing up its work in 2024.
In addition, the Federal Penitentiary Service escorted 60 Russian citizens and stateless persons to Russia, whose extradition Moscow had sought.
"Besides, 7,650 decisions were made declaring foreign nationals undesirable in Russia, while another 8,700 decisions banned foreign citizens from entering the country," the service director noted.
