NAIROBI, December 28. /TASS/. Work on launching the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Mali's capital, Bamako, is underway, and the parties will sign an intergovernmental agreement on the issue, Russian Ambassador to Mali and Niger Igor Gromyko said in an interview with TASS.
"It is premature to name specific dates for the opening of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Bamako. Active work is now underway on an intergovernmental agreement on this issue. Establishing such organizations takes time and effort," he said.
The ambassador recalled that today there are three partner Russian Houses operating in Bamako and Niamey, the capital of Niger, which are engaged in promoting Russian culture, science and education, reinforcing the position of the Russian language, supporting compatriots and implementing some other projects. "There is a consistently high interest among Malians and Nigerians in these events. We will be glad to open the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Mali, which will bring the cultural and humanitarian cooperation between our countries to a qualitatively new, higher level," the diplomat emphasized.
