HONG KONG, December 17. /TASS/. The Chinese people love Russian music, so it is no surprise that tickets to concerts featuring Russian musicians dubbed "Masters' Night 2024" that kicked off in Hong Kong are selling "like hotcakes," Chinese concert organizers, famous producers and directors Xia Dao and Fu Ying, told TASS.
"Famous Russian musicians have performed in Hong Kong many times. But this is the first time that a Russian classical music concert like this is being held at an open-air venue in Hong Kong," Fu said. She noted that the concert involves such stars as Denis Matsuev, Yury Bashmet, Ildar Abdrazakov, Olga Peretyatko and Hong Kong opera singer Warren Mok.
The first concert was held on Tuesday at the Wonderland Hong Kong open-air concert venue holding about 1,000 spectators. The second concert will be held there on December 18. The event has been organized within the framework of Russian-Chinese cross years of culture.
"This event is meant to strengthen the friendship between Russia and China. The art aids in fostering ties between the people of our two countries. Such a cultural exchange in the field of classical music allows us to understand each other’s histories much better as well," Xia said.
‘In China, we grow up listening to Russian songs, Russian classical music. The Chinese public really likes Russian classical music. Such composers as Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, and many others, are very well-known here. And Russian pieces are always performed at the concerts we organize. Such concerts are particularly important for the young generation," he added.
