Black box of Boeing freighter that crashed near Vilnius to be sent overseas for analysis

VILNIUS, November 26. /TASS/. The black box belonging to the Boeing 737 freighter that crashed on Monday near Vilnius will be sent overseas for analysis, head of the Lithuanian Head of National Crisis Management Center Vilmantas Vitkauskas told reporters.

"Lithuania does not have a laboratory that can extract and analyze the flight data. The black box will be sent to our partners abroad," he said.

The laboratory will be chosen on the basis of recommendations from the international crash investigation commission, he added. Professionals from Germany, Spain, and the United States are involved in the probe.

The Boeing 737 that crashed was owned by the Spanish air carrier Swift Air, but was operated by delivery giant DHL. It was en route to Vilnius from Leipzig. The airplane crashed about a mile from the airport. One person on board died and three were injured.
