Forty-six residents of Russia’s Kursk Region return home from Ukraine

MOSCOW, November 22. /TASS/. As many as 46 residents of Russia’s borderline Kursk Region have returned home from Ukraine as a result of negotiations with Kiev, Russian Human Rights Ombudsperson Tatyana Moskalkova said.

"Today, 46 residents of the Kursk Region returned to Russia from Ukraine as a result of negotiations with the Ukrainian side," she wrote on Telegram.

Moskalkova pointed out that Ukrainian troops had taken those people away after launching an incursion in the Kursk Region in August. There are 12 children among those who returned to Russia, including a newborn baby and a toddler, as well as a wheelchair person.

"This humanitarian operation became possible through cooperation with the Russian Presidential Administration, the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian Foreign Ministry and Belarusian government agencies. We maintained close contact with Kursk Region Governor Alexey Smirnov," Moskalkova added. "I would particularly like to highlight the role of the International Committee of the Red Cross, which responded to every request for food, clothing and transport vehicles. We were also in dialogue with Ukraine," she said.
