ST. PETERSBURG, June 26. /TASS/. The 12th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPILF) kicks off in St. Petersburg on Wednesday.
Justice ministers from 30 countries are expected at the forum themed "Law as the Basis of Global Balance" this year, with the total number of forum participants potentially rising to 4,500-5,000 people. The international community is showing increasing interest in the event. Last year, more than 3,800 delegates from 54 countries took part, a rise from over 3,000 guests in 2022.
This year’s program includes 120 events, including roundtables, business sessions, open conversations, conferences, business breakfasts, lectures and presentations. Among other things, representatives from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Russia will take part in a meeting of the working group of the Interstate Council for Combating Corruption.
"Forum participants will discuss the role of legal norms in preserving global stability and security, challenges facing present-day legal systems and ways to adapt those to new realities," Russian presidential aide Anton Kobyakov, who is responsible secretary of the forum’s organizing committee, said. "The focus will be on the protection of human rights and interaction between international and national legal systems amid global changes," he added.
SPILF 2024 will close on June 28, and on June 29, the International Youth Legal Forum will take place.
